In the field of heritage tourism development, the Lyon-based Historical Cities association (formerly VieuxLyon. org) launched the ambitious project in 2004 to develop online territorial and tourism marketing tools. It has become a reference point to this day: all of its websites on the ancient Lyon region exceed 650 visits/day, its guided tours on smartphones in French, English, Spanish and Chinese exceed 50,000 downloads/year. And the adventure continues with new developments and ongoing partnerships...

For the record, our concept was selected at the Carrefour des Possibles in Lyon on December 13,2004 as one of the 10 innovative digital projects by the jury, including the City of Lyon and Greater Lyon. The Historical Cities association, which gathers only volunteers, patrons and supporters, was declared of general interest in May 2010, and continues to grow today.

The Internet site www.patrimoine-lyon.org, which includes the entire UNESCO Lyon sector, is open to the general public and answers questions from Lyon residents, visitors and tourists alike. It can help you prepare your visit, document emblematic places, detail some of the existing monuments with 360° views and visualize lost places.

The 7 guided tours izi.travel/lyon-unesco on smartphones in 4 languages, including Chinese, allow travellers to visit the UNESCO area of Lyon on smartphones, tablets or PCs.

And now, active collaboration in the Treasures of Lyon with Google Arts & Culture!
The association is recruiting: you want to know more about our city? Are you passionate about Lyon and its heritage? Join our team and contribute to promoting Lyon's heritage on the Internet. In a context of constant evolution of our projects, Historical Cities is looking to expand its editorial team of volunteer editors and contributors.
